The Cartier Tank has achieved iconic status in the world of watch design and, with the exception of a few distinctive variations, has maintained a consistent aesthetic throughout its extensive production history. The first commercially available Tank Normale was introduced in 1919, having been inspired by the treads of the French Renault FT-17 tank used in WW1. This Tank Louis, circa 1970s features a "Paris" signed dial with hidden "Cartier" signitare at 7 o-clock and the "elongated" cabochon crown which many collectors argue is more attractive. This piece has remained in excellent vintage condition. The displays no cracking or crazing which many examples of this era show today. It has no notable wear. The case retains strong dimensions with hallmarks and caseback markings still clearly visible. It comes accompanied by a supple lizard strap in brown with generic buckle and genuine Cartier service pouch for storage and travel.
