This gorgeous 4" round glass ornament is intricately painted on the inside ("li bien" method) and is Pier 1 Imports´ collectible ornament from 2004. Painted illustrations are of brightly robed kings / wise men traveling with shepherds, sheep and a camel, and following the star to the town of Bethlehem. The ornament´s gift box is covered in blue velvet, is lined with satin, and has a knotted / looped closure. The art of LiBien or "inside painting" originated in China and has been a respected tradition for over 200 years. Each piece is hand-painted in reverse through a tiny opening in the glass and requires keen skill and concentration. In like-new condition from smoke-free environment.
